After several years of urination problems and trying various drugs,
I have decided to go with the TUNA.  Have had all the various pre-testing
and scheduled for this coming Thursday. The prostate is just slightly
enlarged, but causes the restriction, nevertheless. I have had an
elevated PSA (6-7)for 3-4 years. Three biopsies over the years show
no infection or cancer.
The procedure will be performed with the new Medtronic TUNA device which
supposedly requires 25% less time, with less post procedure trauma.
Needless to say, I am nervous and apprehensive, but looking forward to
a solution to the problem.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted as this moves along.

Dear Zork,
How did you come to the decision to have a TUNA instead of a PVP?

In the case of my uro, he was in the initial testing (at Mayo)of the PVP,
BUT has been doing the TUNA for quite a while. In his opinion, with the
size of my prostate, location in regard to the bladder and the efficiency
of the new Medtronic TUNA device, he felt the TUNA was the best option.
He does NOT perform PVP, but after talking at length with him I am hopeful
that didn't influence his recommendation. He said the recovery time will be
very short and less trauma to the 'area'. <g>
We shall see....I'll keep the updates coming.
(Just another comment....I had definetly decided on the PVP in FL when we
head south in a few weeks. Was talked out of it, for better or worse)
