has anyone had this treatment. My Doctor does it and pvp and thinks
they are close. I have a lot of trust in him so I am going for it.

I had Holmium laser surgery 3 years ago. There was no pain, no
bleeding, and a very short recovery. I was back at work in a week. My
uro had suggested open sugery because of the size of the prostate. I
did not want this and sought a second opinion from a surgeon who did
holmium laser surgery.
To date there have been no problems. Would I have the same surgery
today? Difficult to say since I have not questioned a doctor about what
I had and today's PVP. Despite differences, there seem to me to be
numberous similarities to PVP. I know many including Patrick will
disagree. I view the differences as possibly incremental, and not
revolutionary, improvements.
Good luck

I have had PVP, and during my research considered Holmium. It seems that
the main advantage of PVP is that less skill is needed to do Greenlight
PVP than to do Holmium for BPH. I picked a uro who had done 25 PVP
procedures and I considered that sufficient. I have heard that Holmium
would require more than 25 procedures to be well trained.
So, skill level of the doctor seems to be the main factor in choosing
between these 2 procedures.
