I have a friend that has an enlarged prostrate and he is 61 yrs old.  He is
on Flomax, which helps urination greatly.  However, it appears his interest
in sex has declined and that ejaculation has become a thing of the past.
Also erection seems to have declined as well.

Has anybody else incurred this problem with Prostrate and if so what was
done?  Were you able to improve the problem, did you have surgery, such as
the Indigo Laser surgery?  If surgery was performed were you able to take
testerone afterwards and the problem improve?

I am very new to this prostrate problem, although I have done a bit of
reserach on the internet.  I feel personal information from someone that
has already dealt with this problem is valued more at this time to update
me quickly to help my friend out.  He is frantic and not the same person.
I am looking for quick, but accurate and personal information then I can
further my research and locate a knowledgable physician with questions.

Thank you for your time and any information you can provide me.

I am 61 yrs old. Developed urinary retention after visit to ENT doc who
sprayed my nose with Afrin.  Put on Uroxatral (another newer
alphablocker similar to Flomax) until I went for a TUMT July 04.  The
Prostatron 2.5 TUMT helped clear the half of the urethra nearest the
bladder but not the half furtherist from the bladder.  Had PVP 2/23/05
to clear the remainder of the occluded channel.  Good flow now.  At 6
weeks post PVP am dealing with retro.  If you are able to read the old
posts on this bph newsgroup, you will find an abundance of information
on the various interventions.  Be happy to answer any
questions...chockman@canby.com

Its the effect of the Flomax thats causing your friends problems not the
prostate

Tell him to find a PVP doctor and get back his life without suffering such
indignities

ETC...

Before my surgery last year ,I had an enlarged prostate growing for 10
years from age 58 and never experienced these effects. It could be a
side effect of having to pee a lot during the night or not being able
to empty the bladder,or using Flomax.Or many other medical and
psychological conditions.

I have not used Flomax or any other prostate drug, but problems with
drugs are a common experience reported on this group.

I avoided surgery until PVP laser surgery became available, but today
there is no reason to delay. Indigo Laser is not the same thing. If you
search for "PVP" references in this group you will get a lot of useful
information.

best wishes  .. Richie

What you want is "Green Light" Laser.

This site can help find a doctor too:
