I guess I assumed all lasers were alike.I saw a Urologist who strongly
recommended a PVP with a greenlight laser..........who is about 60
miles away. However, he does not participate with any insurances. His
fee is $1600. I was going to borrow it and be willing to pay a co-pay
of 10-20% BUT My insuracne company will only pay a little over  $700 .

So I went ahead and made an appointment with these other urologists a
bit further away (110 miles)  that use  the Indigo laser and
participate and  then I read up on here when I got home about the
Indigo.......assuming they were the same process..... they are not.

Sounds like recovery and safety, and effectiveness are much better with
the greenlight......true???

My next nearest are 138 and 162 miles. I can afford to stay out of town
a night or two, but am still worried about the travel comfort.

One confused, disappointed puppy.

Had them both and yes PVP was very much more effective, and recovery was
order of magnitude easier - go PVP no matter how far you have to travel.

Definitely PVP ........travel however far you need stay overnight and then
just be very sensible driving back so as not to strain anything and stop
frequently for a restroom stop

I was sitting in the garden 4 hours after my PVP even after a general
anaesthetic

The "sitting in the garden" phrase makes me ask if you were featured in a
Daily Mail article about PVP.

My understanding of the difference between the PVP (Green Light ), and
the Indigo Laser, is that they use a different frequency. The PVP (green
Light) vaporizes the tissue, and creates a channel for the urine to
flow, the Indigo laser "coagulates", the tissue.. My choice would be the
PVP (green light) procedure.
