Pinkot,
You are one of the more persistent advocates of Beta S and Roger Mason, so
much so that I'm sure a few people on this board think you are his
representative.
Searching the web for vitamins and supplements is not difficult (I'm
restraining my sarcasm). But if you want a more direct suggestion, try going
to Webvitamins.com.
There are also a few prostate formulas that include Beta S, including Dr.
Teplisky's and the one I use, Prosta-Response.
As to side effects from Beta S, I can't say for sure whether there are any
or not. There are none that I know of but I can't tell you if the subject
has been researched. I haven't heard of any side effects but that doesn't
mean there aren't any. The only scientific research I know on the subject
said it works but does not shrink the gland. How it works is not understood.
Presciption drugs for BPH also work but may have some side effects. Not
everyone suffers equally from the same side effects. Some prescription drugs
do actually shrink the prostate. Again, I'm trusting to memory. If I need
more specific information about these drugs I would go to medscape.com.
I know nothing of the availability of Beta S in Australia. Here is the US
some nutitional supplement specialty (or health food stores) stores will
special orders items they don't normally keep in stock on the shelves but
generally speaking it is easier, faster, and cheaper to order on the web.

Ron,
Thank you for your reply, unfortunatly webvitamins.com does not work for
me(nonexistent). As for the other sources where I can buy Beta-s I haven`t
found a cheaper one than youngagain wich by the way is not as far as I know
run or owned by Roger Mason although they use his publications as a
reference. You might not like Roger Mason`s vieuws, for me it makes sense.
Some people here are strong advocates of PVP, to each his own. Beta-s comes
from vegetable pulp, it works for me that is why I would recommend it to
anyone with BPH, where ever they want to get it from is their business.
There was one person here that had the opinion that Beta-s was an estrogen,
I haven`t grown any tits yet after nearly 2 years of use and had no
noticible side effects. I am sorry if you find my advocacy of Beta-s and
Roger Mason offensive and suggest not to open my posts in future.
Kind Regards
Pinkot

When I go to
http://www.webvitamins.com
and search for beta sitosteroal, I find among the search results two brand
name beta sitosterol supplments. They are
Source Naturals brand Phytosterol Complex- 180 Tablets w/340 mg Beta
Sitosterol per 3 tablets at a cost of $9.30 US per bottle
and
Natrol brand Beta Sitosterol - 60 Tablets w/120 mg Beta Sitosterol per
tablet at $3.55 US per bottle
With Source Natural Phytosterol Complex $9.30 US buys a 60 day supply of 340
mg/day. This is very reasonable, don't you think?
I found that using another supplement, brand name Prostatonin (with stinging
nettle and pygeum extracts), seemed to help increase the urine flow even
more than Beta Sitosterol alone. The supplement I now use, Prosta-Response,
has all the ingredients of the two supplements and more (many of which are
recommended by Roger Mason) although it provides only 60 mg of Beta S per
serving.
My stream is relatively consistent these days. I had been finding it
difficult to urinate, particularly after sex, and that problem is
considerably better these days.
I've already been to see a urologolist but have elected herbal treatment as
my first line of defense.
If there are any doctors reading, this is a note to you. There now appears
to be some backlash in the medical community against herbal or natural
medications that are sold as nutritional supplements. Instead of seeking
controls on them, I would simply advise M.D.'s to prescribe or suggest some
of these supplements to their patients as options for treatment with a full
explanation of their limitations (i.e., lack of controlled studies, etc.).
At the same time, you can still write prescriptions for prescription-only
medications if the natural remedies don't work or if the problem is too
severe for the natural remedies.

Having had no luck with Saw Palmetto, I am giving Beta Sistosterol from
Young Again Nutrients a try. I have taken 1 bottle (1 month) and I can
honestly say it has made not one bit of difference. I am required to take
it for 2 months before I can invoke the money back guarantee which I have no
doubt I will be doing. I just hope they honor it.
