I have received a prescription for chronic back pain. It is
compounded Hydrocodone 10/80. The color of the powdered contents of
the capsule (they are clear on one end)is kind of very light
yellowish, a bit like the color of the Norco tablets I was taking
before. Is this the correct color for hydrocodone with apap powder?
Thanks for any replies.
I have seen hydrocodone bitartrate in yellow form (dye)
or white powder... normal.

Our pharmacy compounds hydrocodone capsules-I've only seen it white. Often
pharmacies will mix the active ingredient with a little bit of powdered food
coloring to insure complete mixing of the hydrocodone with whatever filler is
being used to make the capsules. If you don't use the coloring-it can be
difficult to see if two white powders are completely mixed together.
If you are having capsules made and you have a problem with coloring-the
pharmacist can always leave it out.
