Hi there, I recently graduated with a degree in computer science and with job prospects being as they are was interested going back to school. I've been interested in pharmacy for a while and thought I could get some input from you guys. My first questions is do I have a real chance in getting accepted to any half decent pharmacy school? I live in california and have looked at some schools around my area. I realize I will probably have to go back to community college for a couple semesters to get the prereqs I'm missing. My question is will they just look at my prereq gpa or will they look at my overall gpa from my previous college? Is it possible to use only the class grades from my previous school that I need for the prereqs and then combine that with the prereqs I still need to take? I just say this because my GPA in college was under a 3.0 and I realize how competitive it is. What does everyone recommend I do? Thanks for any input.

When doing those pre-req's be sure to dedicate yourself as you will need to
pull up that GPA.

Look up the website of the pharm schools you'd be applying to. They will
list the prereq's and what they look for in admissions..

I have 45 credits towards business BS, unfortunately only 2 classes
transfer over to prepharm requisites. The school I am applying to is
very specific in it's prereq's. My non-science Biology's and Maths do
not qualify. So although I am 15 credits from AA (also a pharm
requirement), I still have 56 credit hours I need to complete before
applying to the Pharm school. :(
"My" pharm school also says it requires 2.5 gpa in math and science
courses in order to apply, but recommends 3.0 in math/science or higher.

SO
You may well have to retake some of your science classes, if they were
were the non-science majors version (as computer requirements probably
are? not sure). So previous grades may not matter.
I think in this instance, the college WILL pull up all previous grades
from every institution you attended/submitted to average out your math
and science gpa.
I had a C in a math course from a previous school, therefore I am
retaking that class so it won't affect my math/science gpa. No point in
taking 100 credits towards my associate <g> and not getting in due to
one low math grade...
