Hello:

Member of our family has been told by MD that Neurontin might help for
some neurological problems (facial muscle erratic firings) that the person
has.

Medicine sounds a bit "scarry" when reading up on it.

Can anyone describe the side effect of Neurontin, or perhaps some personal
experiences with ?

Thanks,
B.

I just started taking Neurontin for an injury which affects the firing
of my facial nerves also. It has made my head feel a little light.
However, I have not experienced any dizziness at all. The best way I
can explain it is this: If I look down for something when I am driving
- I lose my sense of where the vehicle is traveling in relation to the
road. Can you relate to that at all? That is the most significant side
effect. It is different. With that said, it definitely helps me. I
take 300mg four times a day. Now that I have been taking it for a
couple of weeks, I've found that it has a better effect when taken
with an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. It does not totally
eliminate my pain but it certainly helps and I am very grateful for it
at this point. Good luck! I know how frustrating all this can be. Give
the Neurontin a shot. If it doesn't work at the dosage you are taking
don't be afraid to ask your doctor if a higher dosage might help. Also
check to make sure taking an NSAID (like ibuprofen)with your Neurontin
is safe. I would hate to give out unsafe advice! HTH Let me know how
it works out for you. I am curious how this is working for other
people.

I am taking Neurontin for diabetic neuropathy in my feet. It does not
completly take away the numbness and pain but it does help some.

Whatever you do stop taking it immediately.

I  was prescribes this outside of the intended use and now have receding gums
significant hair loss  and my sleep pattern has been totally  messed up. I am
unable to do anything and most people can't  undersyand a med could cause so
much pain . Stop it right away
