(I posted this earlier on alt.drugs, so I thought I may get a more
intelligent reply here)

I know---this is a book, but I'd like some answers. Anyone know how common
seizures are with benzo. withdrawals? I have some Alprozolam's (sp?) that I
take on a blue moon (ok, well--used to do 'em whenever I could find 'em,
yrs. ago, as well as any benzo., or other benzo. on steroids, AKA
Rohypnol's----& no, I'm not a date--rapist either, just a former part-time
IV heroin/speedball abuser/junkie/whatever) & I had a few around
Thanksgiving, but a few days later I was at work & flopped on the ground in
a grand mal seizure---loss of consciousness---for 30 seconds or so, then got
up, & all I remember is the EMT's coming around the corner to take me to the
ER. Sux. Anyway-----6 hours later, after my night class, I had another one
at my folk's pad. Same damn thing---flopped for 30 seconds & lost it, then
came to find EMT's charging inside my folk's pad. The first one, in ER,
doc's let me go home after an hour or 2 after stabilization, & said, "Well,
70% of people have a seizure, then never get another one in their lifetime",
& sent me home. After the 2nd one, the hospital kept me for 2 days, & did an
MRI, EEG & EKG, got me glowing w/radiation, as well as 8 x-rays of my right
shoulder, which I fell on when I flopped to the ground (still hurts like a
MF), & after all that, surprisingly found a brain. Thing is, I told the
doc's I had some Alprozolam's I take on a blue moon or when I'm real hyper &
want to come down (legally), I'll take one or 2 of my 2mg. tabs., & had 2 or
so around Thanksgiving, which was 4 or 5 days prior at the time. They said
benzo's are notorious for causing seizures if you don't come off 'em
properly, like gradually. My pharmacist, (w/20 + yrs. experience) said it's
prolly NOT likely the Alpozolam's caused my seizures. I also take herbal
multi-mineral vitamins as well as milk thistle & flax seed oil, but was on a
colon cleanser as well for 2 weeks or so, which the doc's & neurologist said
could've been a cause as well, esp. when combined w/the Alprozolam's.
Anyway, they put me on an anticonvulsant (Dilantin) & sent me home. I saw
the neurologist a few days later, & she said they found a brain (!) & all
was groovy w/the tests. Sooooooo.........she had no diagnosis or any other
info for me except to see me in 4 months & no F'N driving for 6 months,
which is unfortunately understandable, but very unfortunate, especially
being a full-time delivery driver & student. So, it looks no work for me for
6 months, unless they want me inside taking orders, which they said could
happen. So, anyone know of the dangers/possibilities & how common seizures
of benzo.withdrawals are? BTW, FYI, I'm a mid-twenties white guy, no
epilepsy or seizures run in any part of my family, I quit smoking my Camels
(blue box) in March (hate 'em now), after 8-10 yrs. (some of that was
jails/rehab's/institutions/where I could smoke in some of those places), &
recently have been cracking a Dos XX Special Lager a few nights a week
and/or chug an ice-cold Jose Cuervo homemade Margarita as well. Can't smoke
the ganj for now, but definitely do plan to resume the herbal treatments in
the not too distant future. Sorry about the book here, but thought maybe
someone who is relatively medically inclined would want to know a bit about
my habits to respond intelligently. Maybe I should try a medical usenet
group somewhere? I dunno----thanx for any info----------peece
