Please do not take tramadol or ultram and prozac.  My girlfiend had a
seizure the next day after taking tramadol.  She took her prozac in
the morning and has been in the hospital for days.  She didnt acquired
tramadol from a doctor and was obtained by other means.  But Im hoping
by posting this to try to get the word out.

I'm sorry for your girlfriend, but taking nonprescription medications
(especially antidepressants) is a really bad idea.

Prozac is an effective medication for many people. Your advice would
deprive them of the benefits they get from it. The bottom line is that
you aren't a doctor, and it's pretty clear you don't know very much
about psychotropic medications in general, so yours is the last advice
anyone should follow.

Not trying to be mean here, but I don't think you realize the harm
*you* can cause by giving medical advice in ignorance.

I use tramadol (prescription) and unless I can get access to a better/more
suitable pain killer I think I'll keep on using it!

My girlfriend thank god is now fine.  Just to clear a few things up,
she has prescption by her doctor for prozac.  It is the tramadol that
she did not.  I have read up on these news groups and searching for
("unltram and prozac" seizures) returns dangerous known warnings about
the combination of them both.  Not to say I even read how tramadol can
cause seizures on its own.

Yep. Well tramadol is known to cause seizures, that much is true. I would
say the incidence of this happening would be relatively low, otherwise it
would be pulled off the market pretty quick smart I'd imagine.
And yes - thank god your girlfriend is okay now!
It was a pretty dumb thing to do though in my opinion... I reckon it would
be very difficult to predict the possible consequence of mixing those types
of drugs together, at least with the older types of drugs you could have a
pretty educated guess.
These newer ones can have widely variable effects.
EG: in my case, if you want to turn me into Hannibal Lecter - just feed me
aropax for a week, or even zoloft for that matter. Then run... ;-)
Anyhow, I do hope your girlfirend has learned not to do this sort of thing
ever again!
good luck,

Right on.  I'm getting really sick and tired of reading all of these dire
warnings made by people that take prescription drugs that were not obtained
by legal means from a medical doctor or psychiatrist.

First of all, how did she even know it WAS tramadol? If it was accuired by
other than legal means, what makes you think it wasnt switched out for
something else, just like you buying this "cocaine" and it was really ajax.
Second of all, its a really BAD idea to let anyone know about obtaining
prescription meds by "other" means because only way to get the meds legally
is by prescription. You realize thats almost like telling the feds that
you're buying cocaine?

Then since she took tramadol without a prescription, that means no doctors
knew that she may had problems with the med, or that prozac may have had
some conflict with this. The doctors I've seen will make you wait like a day
or 2 to let your old med bleed out before letting you take the new ones, to
make sure the drugs wont conflict. Maybe she had something with her system
that caused the seizure with the med.

The drug was obtained i guess legally with those online
presecriptions.  So the product was legit
