Hi

I'm an epidemiologist and have a  question about which a hospital-
based pharmacist or pharmacologist would hopefully know the answer:

In patients hospitalised with COPD who are prescribed bronchodilator
+/ or corticosteroid medications.... Do they leave the hospital with
their new meds in hand or do they get a prescription which needs to be
filled upon their first day out of hospital?

If you'd like to answer me privately my email address is:
machelle.wilche...@mail.mcgill.ca

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for responding:

A more precise question would be:
In your experience, do these COPD patients leave your hospital with
unused portions of their hospital-issued MDIs in-hand which would
delay their filling of their out-patient Rx?

thanks

In our particular case, they would NOT leave with any hospital
provided medication as it would not meet labeling requirements.  They
would have, in hand, a supply of medication from our Outpatient
Department.  We fill the discharge medications which are either picked
up by the nurse or delivered by a pharm tech.

The return email is invalid but I can be reached at
