I need some help. I'm jumping through all of the hoops to get my
tonsils out, severe sleep apnea and everything I've heard this is
quite a painful surgery.
My problem is that there is no codeine or derivative there of that
doesn't make me nauseous. I've tried hydrocone, demeral and tyelonol
#3 with codeine and taken them just about every way possible to avoid
the nausea. Is there anything else that is less likely to cause
nausea? Tylenol alone does nothing for me. The only medication that
I'm on is Lotrel 20/5 daily.
Thanks for any help you could give me,
ROB

Have you tried Vioxx?  In some cases, it might even be as effective
(or moreso) as small dose narcotics.  In my own recent case, I
found Vioxx to be MORE effective for me than Hydrocodone/APAP.  (I
was only interested in pain relief, and not a buzz.)

I have heard some people proclaim Celebrex as superior to Vioxx,
but for myself, I feel the opposite.

Sometimes, the narcotic is the best choice (e.g. very severe pain),
but Vioxx has been a godsend for me.

tramdol (ultram) maybe?

I get 200ms sustained release tramadol out of the UK and it's effective

Tramadol is indeed approx as good as Codeine.  However, I still suggest
Vioxx as an alternative.

The only problem that I see with Vioxx is the contraindication with
my ACE inhibitor.

My wife has the codeine-nausea problem.

Ultram has the same effect on her

   YMMV
