cost of medicatoin

The other day I went to buy some Loperamide,for diarrhoea and I
discovered in Wilkinson's hardware shop, in there pharmacy section"
Imodium" 2mgs @£2.30 for 6 caps =38p. I had previously brought them @ a
local pharmacy for £3.75 for 6 caps = 0.62p each! .But Wilkinson's own
brand under the name of "Wilko" cost only 0.87p for 6 caps = 14p each .. How
do you explain the huge difference in cost for what is the same dosage
loperamide 2mgs.The same applies to all manner of pharmacy found in the
supermarkets i.e.. selling paracetamol for a fraction of the cost of branded
goods done up in there fancy packets and expensive advertising.Come on you
pharmacist explain that.?..cas

You are getting the royal shaft. I am buying loperamide from a membership
store called Costco under the brand name Kirkland. Although do not remember
the price, I am pretty sure that I am getting 400 2 mg tablets for $16US or
less. Unit cost is $0.04 each while the £ is worth approximately 2$.

You do pay much more for the name brand name Imodium in this country as
well. Costco offers Immodium at the same time it offers its own Kirkland
generic.
