Severe Chronic Tendonitis

I have been diagnosed with severe chronic tendonitis. This means the
tendons in my hand are very swollen and that causes a good amount of
aches and pain when I go through-out normal activities in the day. I
have had this for about a year before getting officially diagnosed
with it. I finally went to the doctor about a week ago and they gave
me Anaprox (Aleve) and Hydrocodone (Vicodin) and told me if the
symptoms are not better within one week to go see an orthopedic
specialist. I personally don't believe they will get any better in one
week, if they havent gotten better in the past year. So does anyone
know what they will suggest when I go to the orthopedic specialist? I
think they might just give me a certain amount of vicodin at the
beginning of every month for the pain and the same for the Anaprox.
Has anyone had expirence with this? Please get back to me, I'm really
worried about what is going to happen...

Some kind of surgical procedure or nerve block is a guess.   Perhaps some
form of rehab,

What are you worried about?  Surgery, total loss of strength in your
hands, both?

I don't think a week will do it either.  As someone who was diagnosed
with tendinitis in both elbows, (no longer a problem) and CTS in both
wrists (was recommended to have surgery, didn't do it, and am happy I
didn't), I know the fear.  What I was given for my CTS was shots of
celestone, which reduced the inflammation for 4-6 weeks, until it came
back.  I've done some PT as well, and recommend a book by Pascarelli
for the tendon exercises, at least, as well as postures.  You don't
say what you do for a living, but that could affect your tendinitis as
well.

Anyway, good luck to you.

Rick
