I've been telling my customers for 2 years now that quinine is no longer
being made, and about once every three weeks over the same two years, we get
a shipment of QUININE. One time it will be 260mg, another time it will be
325mg, another time it will be 200mg. I understand perfectly about the
Qualaquin (or whatever it's called, @ $5 a pill) but what is going on with
the regular quinine we've been selling for the past hundred years? They have
been saying "off the market" for 2 years.

Same deal with albuterol inhalers. I guess I've lied to about a thousand
customers over the last 2 months when I told them the plain albuterol
inhalers have gone off the market, and they must be switched to ProAire.
From out of the blue, after a lengthy absence, all of a sudden this week we
were shipped, you guessed it, ALBUTEROL INHALERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell is going on??????

I suppose generic Plavix will be back in a few weeks now that we've pissed
off hundreds of customers who went from a $5 copay for generic to an $82
copay for name brand.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

While I was visiting my doctor this week I heard her tell her nurse, "Tell
the patient to drink tonic water as it has quinine in it".  Evidently the
patient was looking for quinine for leg cramps.  I suggested it was
especially good when mixed with gin. In some parts of the world quinine has
again become the antimalarial drug of choice so why would it not be
available?  Was it made Rx only?

I know with Plavix (and lots of other generics) it's the latest "fad"
of going from brand to expired pataent to extended lawsuit before
coming out with the generic, instead of the old fashioned brand to
generic.

I have another gripe to add---what's the deal with these companies
coming out with only one strength of a generic (eg Toprol XL 25 and
Wellbutrin XL 300mg)??

I'll be interest to see what happens to the big Ambien generic launch
this week....
