PHENOBARBITAL (LUMINAL):  Questions about its anti-anxiety effects

Cherished Colleagues,

I get so bored and frustrated with these 1-hour buzzes Xanax, Valium,
Lectopam, and other BZDs give me.  I ain't got the time to be poppin
pills in order to relieve anxiety and have the antianxiety effect wear
off after one to 2 hours.  I mean sheesh!

Recently, I have found access to those oldie-but-goodie barbiturates;
namely, phenobarbital (Luminal.)  I have requested #60 of the 100 mg
tablets (whether they are friable or not, I do not know.)

I am just writing in to find out from darling colleagues about their
anti-anxiety experiences with this particular barbiturate, and any
other barbs, for that matter.  Does tolerance develop quickly?  Does
it really f.ck up your bili?  If you up the dose to maintain the same
buzz (and it's a real mellow buzz, if I hear correctly,) at what point
is it prudent to stop upping in order to avoid an overdose situation?

Can they be inserted rectally?  Perhaps the powder inside the capsules
can find its way into the pink of the bung, hastening the buzz.

Thank you, darling colleagues, for your input.

Love and mellow karma,

Lithobid Lady
aka
Sinequan Queen

You really don't want to be taking barbs. Their overdose risk is high,
the tolerance and addictive properties are higher than benzos.

If you're interested in getting buzzes, then you're in the wrong
newsgroup room.

Valium shouldn't wear off after 1 hour, more like 12 hours.
