Hey, all.

I wanted to check for opinions before I decided to get annoyed with my
GP.

Basically, several years ago, I was having a real bad sleeping problem.
I'd wake up at all hours, get exhausted as the week progressed, and
have to catch up by sleeping most of the weekend.

My GP thought I was depressed, and prescribed Celexa.

That seemed to clear it up.

But I've been on 10mg / day now for a couple of years. In all honesty,
I don't know that I sleep any better overall.

I've certainly had subsequent insomnic stretches, so I think I need to
chalk that up to work stress over depression.

Some months ago, my GP suggested I try to stop taking the Celexa.
Cold-turkey, basically.

Baaaad idea. I'd missed a few days once, and the effects were not
pleasant.

But lately, I've decided it was time to try to wean myself off it. I
dropped to half-dosage for a couple of months, and now I'm going to
half-dosage every second day. In a few weeks I'll try to drop it
altogether.

One of the very interesting side effects of the reduction _seems_ to be
that my blood pressure has come down. For quite some time it's been
high - on the order of 140/100.

To be honest, I wasn't monitoring my bp before I started on the Celexa,
so I don't know how long it's been high.

But since I've ratcheted back on the Celexa, it's been almost normal
(knock wood). I've seen discussion of possible blood-pressure related
side effects of Celexa, and I'm forced to wonder whether, not only was
my work stress misdiagnosed as depression, and Celexa prescribed when
it was not needed, but whether the Celexa has been the cause of my high
blood pressure!!

Any opinions??
