My son's girlfriend is nursing for 3 months in Ghana, an area with
endemic malaria. She obtained mefloquine from a pharmacy home in
Canada, and finds out that it expired May 2005.

Are there any adverse effects likely from taking this outdated
medication? Is there a substantial degradation and decrease in
bio-efficacy that has been documented?

Any scientific literature that you can aim me to would be appreciated -
I'm a physician.

Thanks.

Not too many clinical studies on outdated drugs. Outdated tetracycline can
cause Fanconi's syndrome!
