Hi all,
I had the scariest thing happen to me the other day. I had my gallbladder
out a couple of weeks ago and the doc prescribed an anti-nausea med called
Reglan in case of nausea. I don't know they didn't give me Phenergan since
I'm used to that, but they wanted me to try this. Anyway I took 1 in the
morning and 1 in the afternoon. When I was driving to pick up my husband
from work I noticed I couldn't stop from looking up in the sky, and my neck
wouldn't stop doing that either. Thankfully I made it to his work before it
got MUCH worse. I couldn't keep my head from being upwards and my eyes from
doing the same, it was awful and scary at the same time, and VERY hard to
explain exactly what happened. I thought I was having a seizure. My
husband quickly took me to the ER and told them about the Reglan and they
knew exactly what happened, gave me Benadryl in an IV and 1 minute later, it
stopped. I was told it was common and to take a couple Benadryl (50mg)
every few hours for the next day until the drug completely left my system
since it's slow release. The ER doc told me that unfortunately that is a
very common side effect. If that's the case, why in the HELL is this drug
allowed to be on the market?!
I was so scared to drive the next couple of days, that's how bad of an
effect it had on me, and I will never forget it! Has anyone else had this
reaction to it?

I've had exactly that same reaction to both Reglan and Compazine used for nausea and
would not, under *any* circumstances take either of those meds again. I've heard that
both are (or were) used to alleviate nausea caused by cancer chemotherapy. If that is still
true I would refuse the chemo and let nature take its course.

Dear freinds,
I assure you that there are some other anti-nausea medications with
lower side effects.
and never forget that each drug has its own risk and benefits (and even
water)
