Good Evening!
I don't usually post in this group but I have a specific
pharmacological question.
I have recently been prescribed topamax(25mg going to 50mg) and
Adderall (20 mg XR)for BPII and ADD (respectively).
Has anyone had any experience with the 2 interacting either on a good
or bad way? Side effects?
Thanks!

(This is from a lurker who is not a pharmacist.)  I once was blessed
with this combo, but in greater amounts, for a month.  The symptoms of
ADD just got up and walked away, but the agoraphic and hypervigilant
portions of my severe and chronic PTSD subsided only minimally.

Unfortunately, I got so excited about being able to "think clearly"
when reporting back to my doctor she decided to take away the Topamax
due to sudden "manic" behavior in her office.  Eventually, without the
Topamax, a lot of the ADD came back, but I'm still better off for that
short-term experience; knowing what I'm capable of helps me fight.

So you be careful and don't copy me; take some Benedryl or something
so you can't get excited about positive results.

Incidentally, I took the Adderall for a few *years* without any side
effects such as addiction, jitters and/or lack of sleep.  And when I
said I was purposely skipping doses to check for addiction my
pharmacist said he didn't think I'd ever have to worry about it
because he could *see* that my system was using it correctly, or
something to that effect.  Sure enough, when I suddenly stopped (due
to funds) the only thing I experienced was a return of the jumping
jelly beans in my head where most other people have brains.

I wish you much luck!
