No, that would be A: A doctor, and B: a pharmacological researchist.

Pharmacists just fill the prescription, amongst other things, but they
certainly don't invent drugs.  There are still a few pharmacists left
that do compounding, that is, combinding different meds to make a final
product, but they don't invent drugs, with maybe very few exceptions.

they do invent drugs.
In Croatia, after you finish a college to be a pharmacist, you can work in a
pharmacy shop where you sell drugs, check for interactions, advice your
patients about Rx and OTC drugs etc. But you can also work in industry where
you invent a new drug and make an old one. Or you can work in hospital, with
a physician, and considering the diagnose that a physician make you, as a
clinical pharmacist, decide which medication will that patient use.

What a pharmacist does can vary from country to country.  In the United
States, there are a number of things that can be done with a pharmacy
degree.

There is no simple answer, but there are some web sites that can help
you.  You may want to take a look at pharmweb for starters.  There are
also some pharmacy organizations on line and there web sites would be
informative.

>From what I understand, they fill RX's, check patient histories for
allergies, interactions, that sort of thing, counsel patients if they
have any questions regarding the medication, and of course, run the
pharmacy.  Also, they are, I believe in charge of maintaining current
DEA licenses and keeping inventory of all drugs, esp. controlled drugs.
All of this without sampling the goods...

pharmacists in the US do not have DEA licenses...and they have nothing to do
with the maintenance of those that do....they MAY have a computer link that
they can check for status of DEA licenses in OTHERS

again...pharmacists do NOT have a DEA number
and keeping inventory of all drugs, esp. controlled drugs.
