Are you concerned about blocking sun also? I would
first get a list of the ingredients in the product
you used. Then, look at the alternatives.
Emollients [moisturizer], I believe, are probably
the least likely allergen. You might be sensitive
to preservatives, sunscreens, stiffening agents or
healing agents.
If you don't mind a little shine [but no sunscreen],
good old white petrolatum [Vaseline, et al] or cocoa
butter might be good alternatives. Prior to applying
ANY dry lip remedy, wet the lips first, then lightly blot
so they remain "damp", then apply the remedy so moisture
is available to the lips. Once healed, the remedy can
be used for prevention of dryness in the same way.

Thanks, Ed. I believe it is petroleum jelly to which I am allergic. I will
look for cocoa butter.
