My 81 year old mother is on Diovan to control BP. Over the past year she has had a loss of mental clarity and some
personality changes (i.e., not as sure of herself, forgetfulness, repeating herself, etc).
My aunt (her sister) insists that it is being caused by the Diovan. The research I have done does not support this, and
neither does a drug interaction report I ran with her other medications (Fosamax, Lipitor, Viactiv). But my aunt says
that she used to be on Diovan and it made her feel "groggy and out-of-it", and that discontinuing Diovan returned her to
normal.
I am looking for an expert to tell me if there is anything to my aunt's story or if I should move on to other
possibilities. If we are talking about early Alzheimer's, I want to get my mother some help ASAP.
