Some years ago, I was able to get aluminum hydroxide gel tablets under the
name Amphojel. Now, no local drugstores seem to carry it or even are capable
of ordering it. Is there a reason?

I know 3M Pharmaceuticals has stopped production of Alu-Cap, which is a
similiar product - probably not enough profit. You could try contacting
a compounding pharmacy to have them specially made.
