And people wonder WHY the FDA maintains "prescription only"
status on some medications! Sure, one could try copper...
you could also try leeches...how about blood-letting...
Oh, I know...make a paste out of "pure and natural" Florida
Swamp Mud...apply the swamp mud paste to the affected areas
on an "as needed" basis...probably won't affect a cure, nor
provide relief...but might be good for a laugh or two if
someone tried it, hehe!
I guess you get your legal advice from the convicts at your
closest penitentiary...afterall, they have firsthand knowledge
of the legal system! No need to consult one of those "high-
priced, overpaid lawyers" who just want your money!

There is something to be said for that.
If I go by the 100th anniversary edition of thge Merck Manual, copper
sulfate was used for itch relief at that time. I am sure that there may be
many reasons not to use it, but I tend to be ornery. I know that it can be
toxic. I am not urging its use upon anyone. Given the history of
pharmaceutical blunders, the industry and the professionals have plenty not
to be proud of. By the grace of god (expression only, not a religious
statement) and a vigilant FDA, thalidomide did not gain a foothold in the
US. Tonsillectomies are no longer being done although they were a rite of
growing up. Where is estrogen replacement therapy today? The list goes on.
I am relating my own experience. It is satisfactory and cheap. I also have
no vested interest. Remember Oprah Winfrey and hamburgers?

So do you think Selson Blue shampoo would work?Because I had tinea
versicouler (sorry missplelled) before and my docter told me to buy
that and it worked. But maybe that is what I have again because it
looks alomst the same but it is a redder color and perhaps I did not
fully get rid of it.. But it is spreading everywhere its disgusting!

What do you mean by everywhere?
Tinea versicolor can occur in the groin. So perhaps you have had a
recurrance of that rash. I'd give the Selsun Blue shampoo a trial on your
rash.

Erythromycin is not recommended for treatment of bladder infection.
Go to the clinic. You need either Cipro, Septra or Augmentin. The
rash sounds like a fungal infection, but it's hard to say without
looking at it. It could be an allergic reaction. Have you used any
new soap or detergent recently?
Are you using the Nystatin twice a day? Are you washing the affected
area and drying it before applying the cream? If Selsun Blue worked
before, try it again. If the rash doesn't improve or gets worse go to
the doctor.

Thanks so much, I'll try that. You guys are such great help, I don't
know what I would do without google!!!:)
PS. That is why those antiobiotics made my bladder infection so worse
probubly.
And no, i don't use new soap or anything. I try to use it 2 times a
day but I hate that stuff it stinks and it just seems to make it
worse!

I agree your rash is most likely fungal--sounds like ring worm a sort of
fungus-- try washing and thoroughly drying area twice a day and apply
Clotrimazole cream (lotrimin AF) twice a day followed by a pure cornstarch
based baby powder to keep area dry. Keeping the area dry is the key to
fighting a fungus infection and pure cornstarch powders will work better
than talcum powders.
Regarding the urinary tract/bladder infection--if the infection didn't go
away the first time you were on the erythromycin, then it must be resistant
to it--- never let a urinary tract infection wait--- i could turn into a
very sever kidney infection called pylonephritis and require more treatment
than just going to md or er in the first place----- See your md they will
most likely get a urine sample-- run it through the lab, and prescribe some
emperic therapy like what was previously mentioned-- cipro etc...
Also with any fungus skin infection you should always treat for a week or 2
after symptoms are gone to ensure total clearing of the fungal infection.
Hope all goes well.

> Erythromycin is not recommended for treatment of bladder infection.

Up to 20% of UTIs are caused by organisms resistant to
trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (eg Septra, Bactrim). Flouroquinolones, such
as Cipro or Noroxin, are now the drugs of choice for uncomplicated acute
cystitis.
You women have to learn to empty your bladder thoroughtly. You can't just
sit there and let gravity drain the urine while you read a magazine. You
have to squeeze every last drop out of there.

20% of E. coli is resistant to Septra, however it is still useful in
patients who have not had prior treatment with Septra, and is
considered the drug of choice by many urologists.
David Vargo complained about the same thing during a Dr. Who fund
drive. He mentioned something about using witch hazel.
Bill, what is your feeling on that?
