To control pain, I use Lidoderm patches. The package is about $230
USdollars.      I was wondering if their was a cheaper way to construct
somethign like this at home.  I was thinking of using DMSO as the carrier
agent and then using something like Capsaicin or some pain management thing
for the DMSO to penetrate further down into the muscles.

Any ideas, suggestions, or resources?

Thank you.

How ironic,  I have a company that sends me more of these patches in a month
than I can use in a year.  I have started bringing the excess to my Rheumy
because he said he never gets enough samples from the company.  He did not
have any sample for me when I first started them.

I wish I could just give them to you, but we all know why that is not
possible.

How ironic

I too have more than I could use in five years, however they
will waste away until their expiration is long gone.

There should be a program where they could be
re-dispensed under supervision of a pharmacist for
free when prescribed by a doctor and not needed by
another patient to whom they had been previously
prescribed.

They are only $180 at my pharmacy.
Can't make it at home cuz you need a prescription for the lidocaine.

Compounding pharmacies are often able to mix up a cream of Lidocaine and other
pain medications in a PLO gel (a special base that allows the Lidocaine to be
more easily absorbed through the skin).  These do require a doctor's
prescription, but it might be one option.  I think they usually run about $60
for 60 gm.
