Pharmaceutical industry now considered less trustworthy
than crack dealers.  Hey, with crack, at least the risks
are well-known.  And no crack dealer says "hey my stuff
is safe."

Merck shares plunge on Vioxx denial news

Nov. 1, 2004  |  WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. (AP) -- Shares of Merck & Co.
plunged almost 9 percent Monday after a media report said that documents show
the pharmaceutical giant hid or denied evidence for years that its
blockbuster arthritis drug Vioxx cause heart problems.

It seems that some pharmaceutical companies don't operate much differently
than the cigarette companies.  In favor of the cigarette companies only a
complete fool would still think that cigarettes are good for you and the
companies even advertise to quit smoking.  If cigarette prices are too high
(like $7.50 a pack in NYC) then blame the government for excessive taxes.
They make more money from cigarettes than the tobacco companies.  Who do we
blame for the price of drugs being too high?  Only the pharmaceutical
companies unless you blame the government for not allowing generic drugs to
enter the market sooner.
