Do they exist? I called my pharmacy and they said yes they had them but they
were actually oxycodones.

Yes

Of course they are. Oxycontin IS oxycodone, just in an extended release
formulation. The generic is also oxycodone in an extended release
formulation.

BTW, why would you trust some anonymous newsgroup poster, but you don't
trust your own pharmacy?????????????

I'm still confused. The pharmacy says there is only an 80 mg generic for
oxycontin yet my net research shows that they make oxycodone in 20,40 and 80 mg
strengths, just like oxycontin. BTW most of the pharmacies I've gone to have 21
year olds behind the conter who know nothing. Pharmacist is always busy.

Shhh. Don't tell everyone. Then everyone starts using the independents and
the next thing you know, they are all as busy and frenetic as the chains.

I'm an independent and you can all come to my pharmacy!
If I get too busy I just drop the worst insurance plan - saves more time for
my cash patients.

Your answer lies within the courts.

Oxycontin 10, 20, 40, and 80 all have generic versions that have been at
least tentatively approved by the FDA.

Somehow, Teva was able to get the 80mg to market before Purdue's lawyers
could stop it. Purdue then proceeded to challenge them all, eventually
losing in court, opening the door for other generics.

Due to oxycontin's track record of abuse, manufacturers have to jump
through additional hoops to get it to market. I haven't heard when the
others will be available, but as of a couple of days ago, the only generic
Oxycontin available from our supplier was the 80mg.

I wouldn't think it would be long now before Endo's 10, 20, and 40mg
generics hit the shelves, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.

My experience with chain pharmacy was, "You don't need no frigging lunch.
Boy, get to work!"

If you have doubts - change pharmacies.
