Syringes

Group:

I very occasionally need to use a syringe (and needle) for non-medicinal
uses ... let me explain!

* When making a fruit cake, one often wants to soak the cooked cake with
brandy - not just the surface, but throughout: the way that I do this is to
take a 10mL syringe and inject the booze into the cake.  It produces a
deliciously moist cake that can be eaten over a number of months!

* When repairing furniture, with an edge knocked-not-quite-off, or an edge
lifted-but-not-detached, the still attached wood needs regluing: the way
that I do this is to take a 10mL syringe and fill it with wood glue and
inject it between the layers.  It means that I don't have to get glue all
over the furniture, but have precise control of the delivery point.

I had these syringes when I moved to California from Europe.  I went to my
local pharmacy, and they tell me that they can't sell me syringes and
needles - even though it they are for non-medicinal use.

Can the group suggest how I can get hold of a few (say) a packet of 10
10mL/25mL syringes with needles about 1" long - the actual thickness of the
needle bore is not too important.

Thanks!!

That may just be the policy of that pharmacy.. I know in here in Washington
State my pharmacy (QFC) just issued a policy stating we are not going sell
syringes unless the person has a prescription..  Unfortunately the person
that wrote this didn't pay too much attention to the law from the Washington
State Board of Pharmacy which  allows the selling of syringes without
prescriptions.  I believe it is not only the law allowing it but requiring
us to sell if someone asks. Let us just assume a guy wired out of his
friggen mind came in to buy syringes and he/she tells me they are for
shooting up heroin.  Of course I am going to sell him syringes. Hell they
are responsible enough to come and purchase new/clean needles.  Why wouldn't
I?

There is no reason to withhold needles from somebody.

I would find out the law in your state and/or contact other pharmacies.

Additionally, I realize the the disposability of needles would be important
for glue products but you can get a large flavor injector syringe with a
hollow, non sharpened point, for injecting marinades in meat, or what your
doing with cake.  They are sold at kitchenware stores.

Good luck

Try farm supply stores (Farm and Fleet or such).  They have syringes
available for treating animals.  They might have something suitable.

At my pharmacy we can sell insulin syringes without a prescription and
oral syringes (no needles) , but not other types of syringes.
