I take Diovann with HCTZ to control my blood pressure. I recently read
where HCTZ is contraindicated in patients with diabetes. Cannot find the
article. Can anyone in this group shed a little light on the impact of HCTZ
on blood sugar?
Thanks for any help.
hCTZ IS part of a group of drugs called thiazide diuretics. All thiazides
can raise blood sugars. Many physicians don't know this or really care.
Their knowledge of diabetes is very weak because all they hear is from sales
reps.
Talk to MD and see if just diovan will work alone or even better, get
prescribed an ACE inhibitor that will also protect your kidney (although the
diovan probably does also)
