How do you sort out the optimal foods in the aisles shopping for
groceries?

In the aisles at Cambridge Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's or
Somerville DeMoulas Market Basket more foods appear to have more salt,
more sugar, more simple carbohydrates, more fats and more calories
than what would be the optimal foods.

Simple. There are two types of aisles at any supermarket: 1) the
produce section, 2) Everything else
If 90% of your purchases come from the first aisle, then you're doing
pretty good. ;)
