Adulterated PUFAs as a cancer cause

I don't fully endorse this man but anyway:

Med Hypotheses. 2008;70(2):298-304. Epub 2007 Jul 25.

Chronic cellular hypoxia as the prime cause of cancer: What is the de-
oxygenating role of adulterated and improper ratios of polyunsaturated
fatty acids when incorporated into cell membranes?

Peskin BS, Carter MJ.
Swing Aerobics Licensing, Inc., P.O. Box 56507, Houston, TX 77256,
United States.

With the exception of melanoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the
incidence of cancer has peaked in the last several years, but rates
and mortality are still high. Moreover, despite 50 years of intensive
cancer research increasingly focused on genetic causes, no single
unifying cause for cancer has been established. Although it is well-
known that tumors are hypoxic, and that there is a correlation between
the level of hypoxia and prognosis, with the exception of Warburg's
studies, little work has been done to investigate the relationship
between hypoxia and cancer. Over 70 years ago, Warburg showed that
cells could always be made cancerous by subjecting them to periods of
hypoxia. Moreover, he demonstrated that once cells had converted to a
cancerous state, reversion could not occur. Modern biochemistry
acknowledges that there is a switch from oxidative phosphorylation to
glycolysis in tumors that might be concurrent with hypoxia, but does
not address the cancer causation. It is our hypothesis that long-term
hypoxia of cells in the body, measured in years, is the primary
trigger for cancer. We believe that the hypoxia, which has to meet
Warburg's findings of a critical 35% reduction in intracellular oxygen
levels to initiate cancer, is linked to the incorporation of
adulterated, non-oxygenating, or inappropriate polyunsaturated fatty
acids (PUFAs) into the phospholipids of cell and mitochondrial
membranes. Such incorporation causes changes in membrane properties
that impair oxygen transmission into the cell. Trans fats, partially
oxidized PUFA entities, and inappropriate omega-6:omega-3 ratios are
all potential sources of unsaturated fatty acids that can disrupt the
normal membrane structure. In this paper, we explore this hypothesis
by examining the evidence, and additionally propose an appropriate
PUFA dosage for humans by analyzing requirements and taking into
account current PUFA consumption patterns.

So which of the two are you claiming to be?

Warburg may have been correct, at least in some cancers, but I don't
see how there claims about PUFAs follow, though their claims are
rather vague.  Read Ray Peat instead, if you are interested in this
sort of thing.  In the meantime, actual experiments were done years
ago, and I don't see any mention of these (see the book, "Diet and
Health," by the National Research Council, for example).  Where is the
experimental data?  These claims should be quite easy to verify or
refute, at least in lab animals.  Remember also that this is a journal
about "alternative"' notions, so unless there is a compelling argument
backed by either data or a very good examination of the data of
others, a grain of salt might be in order here.

The tamil incidence of oral cancer is 4 times that of a n. american
population.

I have the stistical results, but why confuse you with the numbers?

The iron notion,ie. iron causes all disease because people eat meat is a
dud; dead as a dodo.

Smile, who cares, but everytime you question something like this you get
creamed because I never make statements that can not be backed up; a
fact you have yet to learn.

"Give a cite .."

No, use a line from the exact cut and paste examples below in the
medline search enjine and they will pop up.  I have learned in past to
provide a "cite" is a waste of time as you don't read them.  It only
leads to more "."  key abuse on your keyboard.

Among tamils oral and related cancer is most frequent:

RESULTS: During the
            period 1996-1998, 783 invasive cancers (310 male and 473
females) were registered, yielding an all-cancer crude
incidence rate of 56.8/100,000 males and 88.5/100,000
females;

RESULTS: In 1993-2002, the
incidence rate of oral cancer in Michigan (one of the 50
states
in the USA) was 11.3 per 100,000,

No "cites", only reserved for serious discussion.

The cancer rate for oral cancers among the tamils is 4 times that of a
n. american population.

Science, learn to love it

The iron notion takes its greatest knocks it seems in india a living lab
where low iron relates to high rates of several disorders.

"Much like the absorption of blood iron / heme iron .. AT ALL TIMES .."

Very much like that discussion.  Multiple "cites" were provided you
which you ignored and/or did not read because they broke the back of the
iron causes all disease because people eat meat notion.

The body has two main ways to maintain iron levels, control in the gut
of all forms of iron is one of them, "cites" previously provided.

Age related iron accumulation is .. iron overload ..

You have read that before ..

And .. still .. you maintain .. "iron is controlled" .. or should I

"Age related iron accumulation is .. iron overload .."

Smile, what was the response the last time you pulled this phrase?  It
is the common process that in all control systems of the body that they
tend to fail with age.

You do recall the several "cites" provided you showing the line of
research of the last 8 and more years, and ongoing, that iron in all
forms is controlled at the gut. A serious world known iron expert
"researcher" would make special note of that research, one would think.

One would think because it breaks once and for all the back of the iron
notion which relies on the now known false assumptiohn that iron from
meat keeps building and building until it reaches toxic levels and
causes disease.  Of course the notion never did account for the same
diseases in non-meat eaters, but that question is now irrelevant; isn't
it?
