I recently noticed that my pinky on one hand seems to twitch
uncontrollably. This really scares me and I wonder if I am going to get
parkinsons or alzheimers. I'm only 24 years old, and otherwise very
healthy.
I don't have any medical insurance, so I thought that I'd ask about it
here first. Is it likely that the pinky tremors are the beginning of a
disease? I was thinking it may be caused by a nutritional deficientcy,
but a daily multivitamin doesn't seem to help.
Jeez... there it goes again. It is twitching right now. I really need
to get some info on this. Please reply if you know of something to
help.

Any advice given in this newsgroup will not substitute an examination of
a medical doctor - nutrition may only be one of many factors that causes
this symptom - see a doctor!

I think stress is one of the most common causes of muscle spasms and shaky
hands. It could also be connected to any form of repetative strain - I find
that after using the computer mouse for a number of hours, my pinky is the
finger that feels most uncomfortable. Maybe for some it could cause
twitching.
The likelihood of you having Parkinsons or Alziemers is very slim, unless
there's family history of it, but as the other guy said your doctor would be
best qualified to determine that. How long has it been going on for? I'd
give it at least a couple of weeks before going to see the doctor - I had a
dose of lower eyelid twitching recently, several times a day for about 10
days before it cleared up.
If you are the nervy/stressy type person like me, then one supplement I
would recommend is a high potency B-complex. I take these occassionally and
I find it helps to stablise my nerves:

Anxiety/stress comes to mind too. Are you sleeping 8 straight hours
every night?

well, you are in an immunology group, and it sounds more like your
problem is nerve related.
other advice given:
don't get advice on uselessnet
get 8 hours of sleep
take b-vitamins
to this I will add the most important
get 30 minutes of CARDIOVASCULAR excercise daily
if you're fat get 45 minutes.
I think the best advice was the first point
