After "Healthy" wrote that a few people died during prolonged fasting
at Herbert Shelton's clinic, I looked it up and found an article to
that effect.
While I am not convinced on the basis of one article that there is
truth to this claim, as I know that Natural Hygienists have come in for
a bad rap, I do not dismiss the claim out-of-hand either.
There is no practioner of health who has not had patients die under his
or her care. It may certainly have happened that during his many years
of practice a few patients did die. If that is true, then the question
that remains is: "Why?"
I have never undergone a fast for more than one entire day, including
not drinking water.
My instincts tell me not to fast other than fruit and vegetable juice
fasting. This is purely instinctual, not based on in-depth study, but
just my feeling about what my body could and could not handle.
I have never supervised a fast or seen one supervised.
I'd appreciate input from people who have had experience with fasting
and would like to read what you have to say pro, con and both.
Thanks,
VP

Many people have a large buildup of fat-soluble toxins. When you
fast beyond a couple of days, your body shifts into a body fat using
mode, and those toxins are released when the fat is used.
That can indeed cause health problems, and it doesn't surprize
me at all that some people sensitive to the toxins they have
have died.
Fasting is a widespread method for the environmentally sensitive
to 'clean out' their bodies. It is usually combined with long
sauna sessions so that as much as possible of the toxins are
exuded in sweat.
If you've never fasted before, watch your body very carefully.
Stop the moment you experience any health problems. Those I know
who have successfully used fasting do it regularly (at least
once a year). They all combine fasting with other detox methods
such as saunas and chelates.
Personally, I don't think it worth the risks.

I started out with 3 days fasts and worked up to two weeks.
Drinking only water and taking vitamin and amino acid supplements.
My skin has never been so clear!
It's been several years since I've done that, but am seriously
considering doing it again.
If you have body fat to live on, I feel that the "dangers" of fasting
are over-rated. After all, what is body fat there for????????
Cheers!
