I appear to have developed an allergy to any uncooked/unprocessed
vegetable matter. If I eat fruits, raw vegetables, or unfermented tea, my
lips, mouth, and throat get itchy.
Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any thoughts or advice?
It's very inconvenient. :(

Do you buy organic produce? I had a friend who had similar symptoms
especially when eating apples - washing them didnt work, she had to
peel them. Seems she was allergic to whatever pesticides or wax was
used on them and when she bought organic apples (no pesticides etc)she
doesnt experience any probelm and can even eat the peel. Whenever I eat
regular broccoli, either uncooked or cooked from whole form, I get a
flu-like nausea but when I eat organic grown broccoli I experience no
such symptoms, so I am assuming its something thats sprayed on that
particular vegetable. Just a thought that pesticide residue might be
the culprit.

Hmm! I will do some tests and see if the organic stuff bothers me less.
Thanks for the suggestion.

You may not have an allergy (mediated by immuniglobin) but
rather a non-allergy sensitivity developing. If the organic
route doesn't work (and given the fact that you report problems
with a lot of vegetables) please see a doctor specialising
in environmental illness (often called MCS in the USA).
EI problems need to be caught before they explode on you.

I just found this website, as I was researching food allergies........i want
to know what is wrong with me, and you have similar problems.......
When I was young, I ate everything, including lots of vegetables, etc.......
many home grown........I also consumed lots of milk, up untill I was about 14
years old........On one occaision i was hospitalized for HIVES........we were
convinced it was from an allergic reaction to popcorn cooked in coconut oil...
.......froma bout 14 years old tell about 21, I did not consume a lot of
vegatables or milk.
later on at about 18 years of age, i started to consume milk again......I had
become lactose intolerant ??? I got bad stomach aches and gas............Then
I started to consume vegatables.........first I noticed my throat itching
from cantalope......then from broccoli, then from beens.........now it seems
ANY FRUIT OR VEGETABLE I eat RAW, cause some sort of reaction, some worse
than others......If i cook or steam them lightly, no problems at all..........
.besides maybe a little gas.........but if they are raw, I have actually had
my throat close up to the point that i was very scared........they also cause
extreme gas and stomach pains.........again, all related to how much I eat
and which vegatable / fruit, as some are worse than others........
On another note, I drank lots of beer in my younger years (17-24) then I
started getting bad gas from beer........some people told me to stay a way
from RICE beers like budweiser........I switched to another beer, which was
ok for a while, but now if i even have 2 beers, I get bad gas............
taking beano helps, but I have to take A LOT OF IT.....like 2 capsules per
beer i drink.............on a friday night out with friends, if I have 7
beers over the course of say 4 to 5 hours.......I have to take at least 10 to
12 beanos!!
I am 29 now, and am worried by the time I am 50 I won't be able to consume
anything that has plant matter in it!!!!
What the heck is wrong with me!!!!!!!
Feel freee to email me, as I don't know if I will get back on here to check
replies......is there anything i can do?
PS..........at about 10 years old i was diagnosed as being allergic to common
grass at a rate of 4+++ and have been fighting this grass allergy ever since..
...could they be linked?
