Atkins diet helps foetus
ANI
With low carb diets like Atkins being all the rage across the world, a
new study has now indicated that pregnant women can also adhere to the
diets as it might have a positive influence on the offspring.
A team of scientists at the University of Southampton School of
Medicine have found that female pups born to mice who were fed a diet
high in unsaturated fat and protein, and low in carbohydrates during
pregnancy and lactation were likely to have lower liver triglyceride
levels in adulthood than pups born to mice on the standard chow diet.
The study, which will be presented in the American Journal of
Physiology, found that the female low-carb/high-fat offspring also had
higher amounts of proteins that aid fatty acid oxidation (fat burning)
than did the standard diet pups.
In humans, maintenance of low triglyceride levels and a good lipid
(fat) metabolism is important as these factors can reduce the risk of
developing coronary artery disease, a condition that affects millions
and kills thousands of Americans each year.
Importantly, the adult offspring of low-carb/high-fat mothers had
reduced liver triglyceride concentration, despite being fed the same
standard high-carb/low-fat diet post weaning. They also expressed
significantly greater levels of the hepatic proteins CD36, CPT-1 and
PPARa, which help with fatty acid oxidation.

more proof that low carb is healthier than current food pyramid
recommended high carb diet.

??? It used to be fairly popular in the U.S. and G.B. and if the U.S.
embraces it you know it is a sh.t diet.

Yeah and cigarettes are healthy because they help you lose weight .
Lets just ignore all the negatives.

Proof? Is that all you need for proof?
I don't think you have addressed the billions of Asians thriving on
high carb diets. Hi carb seems perfectly healthy on the evidence
available.

Nothing substantive comes to your mind?
Why do you bombard this newsgroup with empty nonsense?
Please, ...please, ... please grace us with more of your empty nonsense, :(

I said "more" proof. Another small brick in the ever growing wall of
proof that all points to what is becoming more and more apparent, that
low carb is significantly healthier than the mainstream obsessions
with the food pyramid and the high carb diet.
China is reporting signofocant increases in obesity. I guess where the
rice failed, coca-cola is succeeding.

Many of whom are unhealthy or malnourished. Here is a simple fact for
you that more than addresses your desperate desire to hold onto your
high carb fantasies. It really is simple for anyone who looks at it
logically. We know humans can live and indeed thrive on a diet close
to 100% fat and the rest protein with very little to 0 carbs. That is
a fact. Now here is another fact. Humans can NOT thrive on a diet of
near 100% carbs and no or little protein and fat. And when i say near
100 i mean 85 to 90+. That fact alone tells you a lot. if 100% carbs
is impossible and unhealthy what makes you think 70% is good? And
again if near 100% fat is possible and healthy what makes you think
30% or less is good?? Your views are totally against the reality and
facts of human nutrition.

Maybe lazy sedentary people can thrive.

Humans can NOT thrive on a diet of near 100% water either idiot. So
what does that prove that water is of no nutritional value?

Yes
And

Try exercising sometime and see what it feels like on a no carb diet.
