For the past several years, my food intolerances to protein have grown
out of control. I am now limited to starches, vegetables
and fruits, grains and a few beans. Protein, including soy, soy oil
and most other oil are all out. Thinking this might be a digestive
problem rather than an allergy, I've purchased some pancreatic
enzymes, which supposedly help digest proten and fat. But the headache
and intestinal problems
that result from eating proten are so bad and last so long that I've
been afraid to try them -- they are, after all, protein based:
"Pancreatin," "ox bile," etc.
I have tried stomach acid as well, but when I did try it I had a
reaction to something --who knows what?--so I've not tried it again.
I'm going to try a doctor again. So far, that's been pointless. They
tell me not to eat what makes me sick. But I think I need more than 6
or 8 grams of proten a day.
So: Do any of you have this condition and take pancreatic enzymes
successfully? Anybody have any other ideas or suggestions?
Thank you.

What happens when eating protein? "Stomach acid" is hydrochloric acid,
and unless diluted greatly would burn your mouth horribly before ever
getting to your stomach. Because you are eating some protein, has it
something to do with amount and not source? What do doctors say, you
suggest you have not consulted them in "years"? If so, is your's a self
diagnosis?
