I am supposed to visit a dietician in the next few days. From what I
have heard of this doc, he seems the prescribe a medication to just
about everyone, i am just not sure i am comfortable with a medication
for weight loss. I probably need to lose about 25-30 pounds. He is
giving rx's for a drug called phentermine. I have done my own
research on the drug, but I would really like some personal stories if
anyone has any about if it was or is a good thing to take. or just
some general advice as to whether i should decline the drug period.
thanks

A few years ago I was having a problem with appetite control. I wanted to eat
all the time and of course gained about 15 pounds and was scared that in the
next few months I would be grossly overweight. I went to my own doctor (not a
dietician) and she prescribed phentermine which I took for about a month. The
appetite problem went away but I did not lose the weight I had gained. (I am
still trying) but I have stopped taking the phentermine because I ran out of the
pills and didn't really need them any more since I had only gone for help
because I couldn't control my appetite.
