Hi,
I recently bought a container of 'Theraputic Bath Salts' and then
later noticed that the primary ingredient is sodium borate (borax). I
recall my parents using this to kill roaches when I was a child! I
tried to find any toxicity information I could on the internet, and
found several references to European studies showing it to be a
carcinogen, and others showing that it is easily absorbed through the
skin. However, I noticed it to be the primary ingredient in many
brands of bath salts. Hmmmm, what to think? It is a commercially
available product here in the United States, so I assume it to be
relatively safe. However, I am still wary of bathing in a toxin! Any
advice or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
JB

Nah, your government is trying to poison you. But wait, borax is
natural, so it can't harm you. Oh dear, what a dilemma. Just have a
hot bath. It's the heat that does the soothing, the borax or Epsom
salts are just peripheral. Forget them.

Isn't borax pure? Then it must be good for you. Sugar is pure,
therfore must be healthy, therefore if borax is pure it must be
healthy.
