Often, my flatulence is accompanied by a clear, slimy, wet substance.
it also appears just prior to defecating on the toilet.
Does this stuff have a name? where does it come from? what can I do to
reduce its presence?
(and I swear, I'm not normally this obsessed with bowel function, but
this has been happening to me for years, and I've never been able to
put a name to this stuff.)

Mucus. It is healthy sign as without it the passage
of the stool is painful and damaging since it
acts as a water based lubricant.
