Expert issues low-carb product warning
However, Sydney nutritionist Trish Griffiths said cutting out whole
grains and other quality carbohydrates could have a lasting impact on
health.
"You'd be missing out on plenty of vitamins and minerals and fibre,
obviously, but there are a range of other things like antioxidants,
polyunsaturated fats, phytates and other plant chemicals," Ms
Griffiths said.
"There's evidence that magnesium, which is obtained in the diet from
whole grains, fruit and vegetables, is relevant in diabetes and the
production of insulin.
"Potassium is another essential mineral obtained from carbohydrate
sources - when your levels of potassium drop too low it can interfere
with your heart contractions."
At least one person worldwide was known to have died of heart
complications after following a strict low-carbohydrate diet, Ms
Griffiths said.

You know, the press people should ask these "nutritionists" a few
questions about who pays them to say what they say. Do they not
understand that their sources need to be honest and above-board?
Obviously Trish Griffiths has no qualms about spouting the grain
industry line/lies and completely ignoring her *scientific* training
in the field of nutritional *science*.
Yep, Trish knows on what side her bread is buttered. (couldn't resist
the pun)

I think that should read "profit warning" not "product warning".
