Interesting stuff, Matti!
But look at this bit:
(from<URL:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3927814/site/newsweek/>)
-------
"Robert Atkins deserves credit for publicizing the perils of refined
carbohydrates, but the centerpiece of the original Atkins diet-eating
unlimited amounts of beef, sausage, butter and cheese-is a bad idea.
Although such a diet may be good for short-term weight loss, it's not a
prescription for optimal health. A diet that includes fish, poultry, beans,
nuts, fruits and vegetables, whole grains and vegetable oils can work for
weight control even as it reduces the risks of heart disease, diabetes and
several cancers."
-------
The above is *really unfair* on Atkins: the book I have *has no such
'centerpiece'*; it gives no permission *whatsoever* for eating 'sausage' *at
all* (no doubt on account of all the carbohydrate-containing crap that is
added to the meat from which sausages are ostensibly made...); it points out
that 'cheese' always has some carbohydrate content, and that the amounts to
be eaten are *limited by that*; and rather than saying any such nitwit thing
about 'unlimited butter' (whatever that would be!), it simply says that
'butter is allowed, margarine is not'! On top of that, for chrissakes, the
Atkins diet *is* a diet that 'includes fish, poultry, beans, nuts, fruits
and vegetables, whole grains and vegetable oils'... -- indeed, it actually,
genuinely, *specifically* includes *unlimited* amounts of fish, and
*unlimited* amounts of poultry!!!!
Jeeezes!! What the hell is it that makes people incapable of dealing fairly
and accurately with Atkins...?
