I have been having trouble going to the bathroom frequently and
urgently.

On my first visit to my urologist, he did an ultra sound of my
bladder.  The test was good.  The nurse said that my bladder was
emptying like it should.  I then had an MRI that reported no troubles.
I was then scheduled for a prostrate biopsy.  All the tests came back
benign.

I was prescribed Flomax yesterday by the urologist.  When I got home I
looked up what it was for.  It is for an enlarged prostrate.

Wouldn't having an enlarged prostrate cause the bladder to fill?

terry... i am somewhat familiar with your symptoms...  an enlarged
prostate doesn't always cause problems with completely voiding the
bladder, may later though... i have gone years with bph and managed
okay... i am a young 62, have been on terazosin for a few years for
the bph [enlarged] prostate issues... i turned down my dr. who wanted
to put me on a second med, finasteride... at one test, i had retained
almost half of my bladder contents... i started taking a supplement
from gnc that has saw palmetto, pumpkin seed, pygeum bark, licopene,
and zinc... the bladder voiding problems are gone now... i also take
extra cranberry supplements... and i have been drinking tons of water
daily for many years... i would suggest that you learn as much as you
can about bph and your personal issues... be sure to check the side
effects of your meds... in my case, i am not willing to face the
possibilities in negative side effects, when i can take some natural
supplements for prostate health... hope this is helpful...

searches on some of these terms.

Enlarged prostate
prostatitis
