A lot of kids who get their tonsils out actually have fewer problems with
infections.
So it would mean fewer coughs (which is a symptom, not a disease) and fewer
colds.

Yeah, thats why they usually remove them in the first place - chronic
upper respiratory tract infection / tonsil infections.
Adenoids are removed usually for chronic nasal infection / nasal
congestion and or difficult breathing through the nose.
