It will give the middle class who think drug use is fun , a
fright and will stop most of them carrying on and financing this
dreadful criminal activity.

Theyre not just financing the crims, every bullet the Taliban fires
is brought by a european junkie, That's how much support "our brave
lads" really get. End the Prohibition - get the criminals out of drugs.

They'll lose their jobs and have to finance their habit using criminal
means learnt during their week in prison. (A crash course.)

Give them all the drugs they want in shooting galleries under medical
supervision

Freedom hatred is a mental disease so we really shouldn't mock the afflicted
such as yourself. However for the good of the public you should be
sectioned and not let out until you can demonstrate that you are not a
threat to the liberty of more honest people than yourself.

This will also be a good way of finally eliminating tobacco addiction.
Things certainly seem to be moving in this direction. And I'm pretty
sure that once the war on tobacco is won, alcohol will be next on the
list.
Your recommendation is certainly something to consider in the fight
for a drug free society.

Is the criminal activity of taking drugs that is the problem, or the
criminal activity involved in gathering the costs for the drugs that is the
problem?
I think you are deliberatly misinterpreting the situation.

Don't jail them, make them build more prisons. So there's 3,000,000 drug
abusers in the UK? That's a 3 million workforce to build the gaols for
drug abusers!
Then we can achieve freedom from drugs[tm]!

Quite rightly the unions will oppose this , once you start
using slave labor its a slippery slope. Instead start a flat rate
welfare of £50 a week in or out of work. Then all will have an
incentive of getting to work and earning more than this and hundreds
of thousands of civil servants will find more productive work as
teachers of these prisoners etc.
Also pay schoolchildren ten pounds a week if they get more
than 50% average in ten gcse subjects in six monthly exams. Financial
incentives work superbly . GPs were given around £30,000 extra each to
get blood pressure, diabetes under control (the govt actually took all
of it back as higher ni , pensions etc. ) but the incentive system ie
per patient has worked superbly and now the bp in Britain is the best
controlled in the world. It will save billions preventing strokes etc.
