Elevated oxidative stress in erythrocytes due to an SOD1 deficiency
causes anemia and triggers autoantibody production.
Iuchi Y, Okada F, Onuma K, Onoda T, Asao H, Kobayashi M, Fujii J
Biochem J. 2006 Oct 24;

Reactive oxygen species are involved in the aging process and diseases.
Despite the important role of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase encoded by
SOD1, SOD1 -/- mice appear to grow normally under conventional breeding
conditions. We report here on a novel finding showing a distinct
connection between oxidative stress in erythrocytes and the production
of autoantibodies against erythrocytes in SOD1 -/- mice. Evidence is
presented to show that SOD1 is primarily required for maintaining
erythrocyte life span by suppressing oxidative stress. An SOD1
deficiency led to an increased erythrocyte vulnerability by the
oxidative modification of proteins and lipids, resulting in anemia and
compensatory activation of erythropoiesis. The continuous destruction
of oxidized erythrocytes appears to induce the formation of
autoantibodies against certain erythrocyte components, e.g. carbonic
anhydrase II, and the immune complex is deposited in the glomeruli. The
administration of an antioxidant, N-acetylcysteine, suppressed
erythrocyte oxidation, ameliorated the anemia, and inhibited the
production of autoantibodies. These data imply that a high level of
oxidative stress in erythrocytes increases the production of
autoantibodies, possibly leading to an autoimmune response, and that
the intake of antioxidants would prevent certain autoimmune responses
by maintaining an appropriate redox balance in erythrocytes.

Keep the good stuff coming, people need to know.  Oxygen is a killer and
the cause of all disease.

Jesus was a fish eater.

!
Yep, he was in the Bible I read.  But don't confuse Tommy with facts!

Now Sylvia you know every thing. Was he really a vegetarian. I do not think
the bible that I read was all that specific.

Never said I knew everything. . .

The Bible I read contained a story about a miracle.  Jesus only had a
few loaves of bread and a couple of fish, yet He was able to feed a
large crowd with just that food.

If Jesus were a vegetarian, why did He feed people fish?

Now some people believe vegetarians eat fish. . .I call them "fishy"
vegetarians.  Fish are animals, and vegetarians do not eat the flesh of
any animal

Correct, more to the point Jesus after the resurrection visited His
apostles and ate a fish meal to show He was physically present.  Also as
an observant Jew He would have eaten lamb as a normal part of the cycle
of religious feasts and have made animal sacrifices.

Jesus was a fish eater.

Now, you must know this but actually some so some called vegetarians, think
its ok to eat some fish. I personally consider that hypocritical but in
their view there is a hierarchy of consciousness. So vegetable is ok to eat,
because they do not have feelings, so is some fish. I am not that liberal,
so I eat meat. But as the Republican ads say, Nancy Pelosi may force everyone
to become vegetarian and she may hire North Koreans to enforce it, while we
are forced to have gay marriages.

It ain't oxygin, hydrogin, nitrogin, Sloe gin, nor even Tanqueray gin at
all. Everybody knows it's that darn DHMO!

Irrefutable proof!
