Police: Nurse, 51, kills intruder with bare hands

PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) -- A nurse returning from work discovered an
intruder armed with a hammer in her home and strangled him with her
bare hands, police said.

Susan Kuhnhausen, 51, ran to a neighbor's house after the
confrontation Wednesday night. Police found the body of Edward Dalton
Haffey 59, a convicted felon with a long police record.

Police said there was no obvious sign of forced entry at the house
when Kuhnhausen, an emergency room nurse at Providence Portland
Medical Center, got home from work shortly after 6 p.m.

Under Oregon law people can use reasonable deadly force when defending
themselves against an intruder or burglar in their homes. Kuhnhausen
was treated and released for minor injuries at Providence.

Haffey, about 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, had convictions including
conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, robbery, drug charges and
possession of burglary tools. Neighbors said Kuhnhausen's size --
5-foot-7 and 260 pounds -- may have given her an advantage.

"Everyone that I've talked to says 'Hurray for Susan,' said neighbor
Annie Warnock, who called 911.

"You didn't need to calm her. She's an emergency room nurse. She's
used to dealing with crisis."

A 12 gauge with buck shot is so much easier though. (One of the
benefits of growing up on a farm.)
LOL!

In the real world, unarmed victims LOSE BIG - even if the felon
attacking them doesn't have a gun.  Look at Nicole Brown Simpson for
the typical example.  That this particular nurse was lucky enough to
not end up the next Nicole Brown Simpson is like saying you shouldn't
get a smoke detector for your house because some sleeping guy in Oregon
made it out of a burning house without one.

No $4 to park!  No $6 admission!  http://www.INTERNET-GUN-SHOW.com

The problem is that females are too unstable to own guns.

Speak for yourself loser. I own a Makarov 9mm and a 12 gauge sawed of
shotgun my father gave me. And I am a very "stable" shooter.

According to the police report, his last words were "You are such a
big, lovely woman. I want you to sit in my face."

She would probably describe herself in a personal ad as a 40ish (lol)
pleasant fun loving feminine woman with a Rubenesqe figure.

Thank God she didn't use a gun!  Someone could have gotten hurt!
