Residents find corpse in water tower

YONGHE CITY, Taiwan, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Residents of a complex in Youghe
City, Taiwan, stopped drinking the water after they found the body of
a man in the building's water tower, police say.

The residents decided to check the rooftop water tower after noticing
their drinking water smelled unusual and looked cloudy over the past
few days, The Taipei Times reports.

Police say they believe the 27-year-old man had been in the water
tower for at least three days.

The 20 families living in the building were horrified they might have
been drinking contaminated water, and immediately stopped using tap
water after the corpse was discovered.

No one reported any illness, the Times said.

Police believe the man accidentally fell into the 10-foot-high tower
while under the influence of drugs.

Prosecutors will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

H2...uh-oh! That's just another reason not to drink the water while
overseas. Stuff your suitcase with bottled water.

A good reson to demand clean water to drink!  When you notice the Usual
bad taste has really gotten bad - It may be too late!

Hey, the girls in "Petticoat Junction" used to swim in the water
tower... who knows what was going on in there! LOL!

But wasn't that water tower used for the steam engines? If that is the
case, I am quite sure that they could pee in there (like the dead guy did in
the water tower and other things, no doubt), and it wouldn't matter.

I realize we're talking about a fictional TV show, but the water tank
they swam in at Petticoat Junction was total overkill for that one
little steam engine. No REAL railroad would waste money building a
tank that big to service ONE engine. It was simply an excuse to show
three hot chicks in bathing suits. :)

It has been many decades, but I don't recall any sequences showing the
interior of the tank with them swimming. In the intro sequence, the dresses
hanging over the side provided the clear implication that they were supposed
to be skinny-dipping in there. In Real Life, the water towers I have seen
didn't have any place to stand on the inside- if you climbed in, unless you
dropped a rope or had a spotter, getting out was problematical. They ain't
big hot tubs.

Well, my fuzzy memory is telling me that there were one or two shows
which actually showed them swimming in that tank. IIRC, they wore very
modest (yet form-flattering) one-piece bathing suits.

What?  Petticoat wasn't real life?  No wonder why Arnold never wrote
back!

Uh, that was the other Hooterville show, Green Acres. I don't recall Mr.
Ziffel and pig ever showing up out at the hotel. Sam Drucker was the only
regular crossover character (that I recall) after they spun G.A. off from
the original.

aem sends, remembering the TV as (almost) my only childhood friend.....
