adult ear infection symtoms

I picked my ear repeatedly until it started to bleed. Next day, the ear
started to have a throbbing pain near the ear drum. It got worse the day
after. I even felt feverish. Another day passed, and the fever and pain both
went away.

Now when I swallow, I feel a slight burning sensation along an imaginery
path between my ear and my throat, smilar to how a sore throat feels like
but with much lower intensity -- it's more annoying than painful.

Also, it feels as if there is some water lodged in my ear that won't come
out. And if I blow my nose this gets worse. I also hear noise sort of like
plastic candy paper being wrinkled when I do anything that affects ear drum
pressure (swallow, blow nose, yawn...)

These symtoms has been going on for about 3 days with no sign of getting
better or worse. I don't feel sick otherwise. Are these signs of recovery or
signs that I should see a doctor? I read that it is better to let the body
heal itself than to get antibiotics, which the doctor may prescribe and
which may or may not help. That is why I haven't gone to the doctor yet.

Suggestions?

See a doctor and have the problem looked at.  Your hearing may be in danger,
so it makes no sense to screw around.  Nobody can diagnose you without
an examination.

As for antibiotics, if the doctor wants to prescribe them, discuss with
him whether they are likely to be useful or not.  Your body may not be
able to heal itself without scarring or other effects that can damage
your hearing.  As an adult, you can, of course, refuse the antibiotics,
but you may well regret that decision, and regret the delay in getting
treatment.
