Hi,

For no known reason my sugar is reading 700+. I have done 50 unites and
that only brought it down to 550 in two hours. Does anyone have any idea
what is going on?

You need a hospital ckeck ASAP if you are talking units mg/dl.

Either your machine is not calibrated right and sometimes quality
control material is available with the meters or batteries are bad or
something but if it were that high you would not be feeling very good
if at all conscious.

two machines and many strips. I suppose I should admit to the fact.I
guess it is hospital time but I HATE the damn place. Any visit means at
least 20 hours in ER.

ANd I like to go theere with at leastt a little clue as to what might be
ggoing on.

Oh well.... Maybe a few more hours and I will be less confused so I can
drive and not have to call an ambulance

Or at least lass dizzy so I can call a cab.

sh.t.... this sucks

Or maybe you'll be comatose. Who knows?

Your best bet would be to grab a good book and call a cab or the squad
and go on in to the ER. Take care of your health; you can endure 20
hours of anything.

And yeah, it does suck. Get moving. :)

Ketoacidosis can be set off by infection and even though you might
think that it is only glucose problem now it really isn't. A septic
workup along with a BHB is in order. Waiting does no good.
Drinking lots of water was the tip off that you have a glucose diuresis
going on. You need a UA to check for a UTI along with other tests.
You should know the drill by now.

take a cab as Marcia said. It will be some time before you get things
under control so don't wait. You know the risk of DKA.

Hello,
See a good physician immediately if you are not already in a hospital
Best of luck
